Animal Models Neighborhoods

During my internship as a character artist at E-line media on Neighborhoods I have also created animals! I started with a bunch of concept sketches, then modeled, retopo, UVed, textured, rigged, animated, and implemented them into the game. Except for the derpy pigeon, he was concepted by Tara!
Each animal is below 1k. I heavily relied on normal maps, so through experimentation I have refined my understanding of how far I can push it, while keeping the normal map bake clean.
In the past I have only created rigs for my own characters that never where put into a game, so I learned a lot about what rules I need to follow to keep the rig optimized, alongside making sure I'm not breaking any pipelines. The coolest rig is the Kaiju cat, since she is a lot more polys than others I could get away with cooler stuff. I added an FK to IK switch to her back paws. Additionally, most animals are sharing one rig. There is a rig for quadrupeds, one for birds, and one for the Rat/Squirrel. The bird and rat rigs allow for some limbs to be turned on and off, since in game they have 2 models depending on the animation they are doing.
Last but not least, I animated some idle and walk cycles. I love animating my own models so this was a very nice side quest! I created a bunch of animations for the Pigeon, since he is a favourite at the studio!
